It was an unexpected pleasure that the team Badaginiee was invited to attend the opening ceremony of Paan Paan latest outlet “The Grill”. They have read our previous article. So we were honored to hear from them.

On a beautiful Friday evening, the 7th of October, my colleague and I attended the event. As we entered the Lorenz road outlet, we were humbly greeted by the nice gentleman and the lady as I referred in my earlier review. It was a warm welcome indeed. The event was graced by many individuals ranging from celebrities to social media rulers in Sri Lanka. In fact, I met some of my friends there too.

The Grill is a hangout place which is open from 4PM to 10PM. It has a collection of submarines and burgers ranging from veg to non-veg and varying from eastern to western. Additionally, their menu also includes salads, starters, desserts and beverages too.

We all were offered free meals and were asked to give our opinion about the meal we had. Let me walk you through the wonderful experience we had because just talking about it would not do due justice.

Tandoori Chicken Burger
Tandoori Chicken Burger

I ordered a Tandoori chicken burger and my colleague ordered a Beef Steak Sub 9”. Usually, I’m pretty conscious about what I eat. The freshness and flavor of food are necessities for me. Having had overpriced bland burgers and submarines in past from fast food chains got me to think twice about what I eat. Luckily, the Grill gave me new hopes.

The Tandoori Chicken Burger is made out of charcoal grilled Tandoori chicken breast, topped with cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce and with a mix of raita and mint chutney. The favor that makes you forget about the bad experience taught me all about second chances. So, I wanted to know the secret behind the retention of flavor. As I was told, they have marinated the chicken 24 hours before it is charcoal grilled. It was full of spicy Indian flavor which makes you forget that you are eating a western dish. My taste buds were flattered. One must try it to understand the difference between the usual patty we get in the fast food chains and the actual meat in between. I assure you that it would all worth it.

I was really happy about the meal I got but the grass always greener on the other side. When I saw how my colleague enjoyed his submarine. My heart yearned for a bite. Successfully, I stole a bite from my colleague’s submarine.

The beef steak sub 9” was cooked to the perfection and full of flavors to make your taste buds crave for more. The filling was a Charcoal grilled Sirloin beef steak striped with bell pepper, onion, carrot, tomato and their very own pepper sauce. He knew my intentions would not be in his favor, so he finished the submarine before even I thought of stealing another bite. What crossed my mind was how awesome it would be to have this meal delivered during late night study sessions.

We were almost full. It was time to fill the gap with the beverages. Although it was limited to two options at the time, the menu included a fair variety of choices. Nevertheless, we could pick what we preferred. As I served myself a big cup of ice milo, my colleague went for the lime juice. The ice milo was a quite different from what we usually get in the RTD products. It was much creamier and chocolaty. Well, I didn’t get an opportunity to have a sip of the lime juice but my colleague said it was good.

It is always wiser to serve a great dessert, because that’s the taste you take home with you. The last but obviously not the least, the Coffee Profiterole. Those little drops of heaven were filled with coffee cream and served with coffee sauce, whipped cream and oven roasted peanuts. Trust me, that is something you should never miss. It is so soft and so creamy which makes your taste buds go “wow”. I’m sure those were everybody’s favorite.

The Grill could accommodate a gathering of about 20 people and few more in the garden area. It would be promising for an evening chit chat with great food or for a small party. As they mentioned they also deliver within Colombo.

They have definitely put their heart out in those meals. I wonder if they are telepathic of what we enjoy most. We really enjoyed the meal and the good vibes. Thank you for the complimentary box of chocolate muffins to go.

Team Badaginiee appreciates the attentiveness of Paan Paan to their customer desires. We wish you all the best! Cheers!
